Placement Assessment for A1 - A2 Learners

Modified on Fri, 14 Nov at 12:44 PM

This feature is exclusively available to learners accessing ELSA through a School or Company partnership program. It is not available for general individual subscribers.

If you selected A1 or A2 during CEFR level selection, you will do a Scripted Conversation game.

Before the Assessment

  • You will be shown an introduction on Scripted Conversation before starting the assessment.

During the assessment

  • You will be able to play ELSA voice for the questions bubble.

  • You will not be able to play ELSA voice for the answers bubble, but you can replay your own voice recording.

  • You will see a Check Mark when your voice has been successfully recorded in the Scripted Conversation.

  • You will need to meet the criteria for scoring to continue.

After the Assessment

  • Once the assessment is completed, your CEFR in the profile page will reflect or be updated with the new CEFR level (resulted from the assessment).

  • You will be able to Redo the assessment after completing the assessment, but before receiving the score.

If you achieve an EPS score of 50 or higher in the Beginner Assessment:

You will continue with the Advanced Assessment (AI Role-play).

  • You will not be shown your EPS score before going to the AI Role-play Assessment.

  • Once you complete the AI Role-play Assessment, you will see the AI Role-play Assessment Summary and your EPS score.

  • You will then be assigned a CEFR level based on your EPS score. This CEFR level will be used to set your initial Learning Path.

If you achieve an EPS score of less than 50 in the Beginner Assessment:

You will be shown a score of either Beginner (A1) or Elementary (A2).

  • You will be assigned that CEFR level for your initial Learning Path.

  • You will then be taken directly to your home page screen to begin learning.

Want to adjust your level?

If you feel that your assigned CEFR level doesn’t reflect your current ability, you can manually change your CEFR level through the existing process after the assessment.
